Anderson. Paak is a man on the rise. The singer/rapper/instrumentalist is one of the most talented names in Hip Hop right now and has followed up his successful album ‘Malibu’ with a new LP with loop beast Knxwledge.

The project features just eight tracks but the sumptuous ‘short yet sweet’ mixtape has plenty of high quality content to keep listeners entertained. An eclectic mix of funk and gospel instrumentals fused with the soulful, smooth and laid back style of Anderson .Paak makes for a truly unique project. The pair who go by the name ‘NxWorries’ stormed to success last year with the funk inspired track ‘Suede’ and teased two other songs ‘Lyk Dis’ and ‘Best One’ ahead of the project’s release. ‘Lyk Dis’ is certainly a standout song on the LP, with a smooth beat which will have your head rocking back and forth and inevitably pressing the replay button more than once.

Anderson .Paak’s story is probably just as unique as his music. The rapper who is of Korean descent hails from a broken home in California, his dad was sent to prison for beating his Mother but he found inspiration through music by performing at his local church – these Gospel influences are still salient in his music now. After pursuing music for a while under the stage name Breezy Lovejoy, he was left homeless and was only supported by his friends who believed one day he would make it. After changing his name and finding moderate success on Soundcloud, he was contacted by a representative from Dr Dre’s label Aftermath and from there things would take off for the California artist. He was given the opportunity to work on Dr Dre’s final album ‘Compton’ and after releasing his own album ‘Malibu’ he has collaborated with the likes of Kaytranada, Mac Miller and The Game. He has gained attention from music lovers across all genres for his impressive performances. He is the king of multitasking, regularly singing, rapping and playing the drums simultaneously at his shows.

2016 has seen the rise of collaborative projects and it’s great to see two true artists, Knxwledge and Anderson .Paak come together to make solid body of work where the artistry takes centre stage.
