One genre of music which is guaranteed to set the tone and make people feel good at BoomTown Festival is Reggae.

The laid back, spiritual and friendly vibes will certainly be present this year at BoomTown Chapter 9 following the announcement of a plethora of Reggae acts at TrenchTown including rising star reggae artist Protoje and Ziggy Marley, son of the music icon Bob Marley who popularised the genre worldwide.

Protoje first rose to prominence back in 2005 for his mixtape ‘Lyrical Overdose Volume 1’, featuring mostly Hip Hop influenced songs. Over time his musical style developed into the more familiar reggae vibes we’re used to hearing from him nowadays. Protoje has a rich musical heritage, with his mother being Jamaican singer, Lorna Bennett, best known for her 1972 rendition of "Breakfast in Bed' and his cousin being famous Jamaican producer Don Corleon. In 2014 Protoje was included on BBC Radio 1Xtra's 'Hot for 2015' list and has gained notability from music lovers for a few IMPRESSIVE sets which he has performed at the BBC 1Xtra live lounge which you can view below:

His most popular single ‘Who Knows’ featuring fellow Reggae artist Chronixx is a soulful and sunny track exploring the beautiful settings of the West Indies as well as philosophical questions about life and exploring the unknown.

Another act who we have to look forward to at BoomTown Festival this year is Reggae legend Ziggy Marley. Leader of the band Ziggy Marley and The Melody Makers, Bob Marley’s eldest son has certainly followed in his father’s footsteps. Releasing his self-titled Grammy award winning album ‘Ziggy Marley’ as well as welcoming his fourth son with wife Orly Agai last year, fans should have newer songs such as ‘We Are The People’ to look forward to, as well as classics such as ‘True To Myself’ which will set the perfect tone for the festival.
