Bryson Tiller set a match to the entire music industry with with his 2015 release TRAPSOUL.
The breakout album was a stunning success. The album, which featured sensational hits such as “Don’t” and “Exchange”, was certified platinum and reached number 8 on the US Billboard charts. In the year since then, the RnB artist has collaborated with some of the most influential names in the industry; featuring on tracks with the likes of DJ Khaled, Future and Travis Scott. Overnight he hit fans with a sucker punch by releasing a new single ‘Let Me Explain’ via his Soundcloud.
The track sees the RnB star looking to save his relationship over a 90s inspired, wavy backing track. The baseline is driven by sharp 808 drums and the synths on top make for a muffled melodic feel. The bass heavy track, produced by Phonix, compliments the lyrics in which he seeks to patch up tough issues in his relationship.
The Louisville born singer is usually tight lipped about his upcoming projects, but he recently hinted to fans that he would release a new album soon, teasing progress on the project through his Instagram page.
It is likely that his recent collaborations with Chris Brown on ‘Keep You In Mind’ and DJ Khaled on ‘Ima Be Alright’ could set the tone for his second album. However the timbre of this song is much more reminiscent of the signature sound on TRAPSOUL rather than the more pop influenced ballad ‘Keep You in Mind’.
Some interesting lyrics from the track include:
"Look at Jay and B they're going through some shit too"
"If you just let me explain"
"It's been a long time"
"There’s too many things, I can’t look you in the face"
"I just grab you by the waist and act like everything’s okay"
