British music icon, Craig David has announced details of a new fashion capsule collection that will drop exclusively at Selfridges’ stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester and from Selfridges online from August 7th.
Craig David is a global superstar on top of his game. Selling 15 million albums worldwide, winning multiple Brit Awards and being Grammy Nominated are just a few of his top achievements. 16 years after his debut album ‘Born To Do It’ shot straight to Number 1 on the Official Album Charts, his latest album ‘Following My Intuition’ did the same thing - making the singer’s resurgence the most talked about and relevant return to music by an artist in decades. Craig catapulted back into the charts and in to the nation’s hearts - leaping from strength to strength on our airwaves, and has been unavoidable on our TV screens and on the live circuit ever since.
Following his triumphant 18 date UK headline tour earlier this year and his recent Glastonbury Pyramid stage performance which saw him draw one of the biggest crowds of the year, Craig is currently in the midst of another record breaking 10-week Summer residency at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel whilst performing live at festivals throughout the UK & Europe this summer.
Add to that a headline TS5 tour which sold-out in seconds, selling out shows all over the globe, over 1.5 million singles sales and 117 million single streams worldwide, winning the prestigious MOBO award for Best Male Act and the small matter of selling out the O2 arena...twice, it would be an under-statement to say that the last year has been anything short of monumental for Craig.
His latest album is also a celebration of one of the UK’s most loved artists, back on British soil, and at the helm of his own unique, authentically British sound. A sound that made waves across the globe, making him the voice of one of the most pivotal eras in UK music, and in turn, making him one of the most successful artists in UK chart history. This time however, he is speaking to a new generation who are listening with fresh ears as well as sparking euphoria in fans that waited for his return. And it seems the singer by no means has plans to slow down as he’s set to announce the release of new music very soon.
But its not just new music Craig’s fans can look forward to, Craig is ready to dominate the fashion game too, announcing the Craig David Collection. A capsule comprised of a series of bold graphic t-shirts, hoodies and long-sleeved tees inspired by his music and sound that has made waves across the globe since exploding out of the UK underground back in 1999, making him the voice of one of the most pivotal eras in UK music, and in turn, one of the most successful artists in UK chart history. The slick designs show off typography and imagery influenced by his lyrics and career as well as paying a stylistic nod to flyers, album covers and the uniquely British culture of the early UK Garage scene.
The Garage and R&B legend spoke about his new range, saying, ‘I’m really honoured to be working together with Selfridges to launch this collection. I wanted to create a fresh and exciting new clothing line for my fans that represents where I am musically today, but also influenced by the style of where I came from.’
The launch coincides with Selfridges’ Music Matters season celebrating the correlative relationship between music and style that runs in-store from June 26-October 18, and the collection was produced in partnership with Bravado, UMG's leading merchandise and brand management company.
