Nicki Minaj is definitely an artist who knows how to raise a few eyebrows.

With an abundance of talent which compliment her sex appeal she is clearly one of the best MCs on the planet right now – male or female. Alongside pop sensation Ariana Grande, she impressed with a daring performance at the MTV VMAs which involved a host of male dancers sporting pink leotards who pranced around the pair as they performed their hit ‘Side To Side’ in front of adoring fans at the Madison Square Garden in Manhattan.

The New York rapper followed up her raunchy performance by dropping a freestyle just a few days later on her Soundcloud account – a long awaited return to the music scene since her last album ‘The PinkPrint’ dropped in 2014. Minaj had teased fans with rumors of a mixtape coming last October but this is the first solo track released by the $70m rapper in quite some time. The six-minute track titled ‘The Pink Print Freestyle’ – yes, Nicki clearly has a profound love for pink – had all the bloggers talking.

A shout out to troubled mentor Lil Wayne at the start of the track, some sly shots at other rappers and a unapologetic reference to deceased gorilla and meme sensation Harambe (I’m dragging these hoes like Harambe did the kid’) packed a punch and sent seismic waves around social media once the song dropped.

The track samples ‘Ting – A – Ling’ by Dancehall legend Shabba Ranks, a subtle shout out to her Caribbean roots which she exposes the listener to by switching up her flow on the second half of the track, she also manages to fit in a cheeky interpolation of M.I.A’s ‘Paper Planes’ – this part of the song will be stuck in your head all week long; it’s pretty catchy.
