Watch the video for 'YOU'RE THE ONE' off his 2016 album, '99.9%'.

30th Sep 2016

KAYTRANADA continues to unleash his style in this 90's sitcom themed music video.

Producer Kaytranada recently won the 2016 Polaris Music Award, an award for the best full-length album to come out of Canada. This album, '99.9%' is packed with fun electronic dance tracks, and was followed up by a very worthy project by the name of '0.001%' that dropped just last month, a review of this project from us here at Keakie can be found here soon.

Shomi Partwari, the direcetor of this specific video, had this to say about it; "Stylistically it was influenced by the look of black sitcoms from the early 90s -- from Martin to Living Single and UPN sitcoms. The African prince idea derived from the plot of Coming To America."

Only a few days before this video dropped, Kaytranada posted a picture to Snapchat of him and hip-hop legend Andre 3000 together. Could this mean a collaboration between the two? It wouldn't come as too big of a suprise considering 3 Stacks has been active this year with artists such as Frank Ocean, Travis Scott, and Kanye West. Kaytra is no stranger to collaboration himself, occasionally working with acts like Goldlink, Mick Jenkins, and AlunaGeorge.

Syd, the lead singer from The Internet is someone else who has a history with Kaytranada. In 2015 Kaytranada produced for The Internet on a big song from their Grammy nominated album, 'Ego Death'. On this song she carries the track with her light vocals while making a brief cameo in the video.

Catch KAYTRANADA's groove and watch the video for 'YOU'RE THE ONE' now.
