The French fashion house has confirmed that their Autumn / Winter 17 men’s and couture 17 were Tisci’s final collections, and that they will not be seen during Paris Fashion Week on March 5th. They will however still sell a studio designed collection to stores via a showroom.

Taking to Instagram, Tisci wrote, “A giant heartfelt thank you to #givenchy, #lvmh, my incredible team, the magical atelier and everyone who made these 93 collections possible and all the other crazy adventures. Your love and support, in the day and in the night, will forever remain in my heart. #love #givenchy #forever”.

Commenting on the announcement, LVMH’s Bernard Arnault said “The chapter Riccardo Tisci has written with the house of Givenchy over the last 12 years represents an incredible vision to sustain its continuous success, and I would like to warmly thank him for his core contribution to the house's development.”

Some of the highlights of Tisci’s tenure are Givenchy include his collaboration with Marina Abramovic in the Spring/Summer 16 show in New York, a partnership which saw performers move ritualistically in an outdoor set to the sound of monks chanting as the sun set over the Hudson river.

Tisci helped build an aura around the brand by surrounding himself with influential figures in pop culture including Kim Kardashian, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, and his departure will continue to fuel rumours that he is on the way to Versace. It is known that Tisci has always admired the work of the late Gianni Versace, and he is great friends with Donatella Versace - who currently serves as Vice President and Chief Designer of the house.
