British singer-songwriter Jorja Smith has released another soulful track in the lead up to her debut album. She teased the artwork for the track, titled ‘Teenage Fantasy’, featuring her mother on Sunday and dropped it on June 5th.
Smith premiered the track on MistaJam’s BBC Radio 1 on June 5th. The track starts with a melody hummed by Smith while babysitting as a 16 year old. Upon releasing the song, Smith wrote: “wrote 'Teenage Fantasy' when I was 16 and I turn 20 at the weekend...be a teenager and enjoy having no cares in the world.Thank You for alllll the love, so happy to share with u all. Good Night”
Smith released her debut EP Project 11 at the end of 2016. Earlier this year, she released the single “Beautiful Little Fools” on International Women’s Day. She also featured on Drake’s More Life playlist on “Jorja Interlude” and “Get It Together”. In May she collaborated with Kali Uchis on a bouncy track called “Tyrant”.
She will be playing a headline show at London’s Electric Brixton on 20th July. Tickets are on sale now. She’s also set to play Latitude in July.
