Leading Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton is collaborating with Grammy- award Winner Frank Ocean
The triple Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton recently broke motorsport legend Michael Schumacher’s record for the highest number of pole positions during his win at the Singapore GB. The driver's sensational performance has continued outside of the Motorsport realm, as he appears to be working on new music with none other than Frank Ocean. Rumours first began circulating when compatriot Naughty Boy praised Hamilton’s multi-talent: “I’ve heard people talking about Lewis’s music and apparently he is quite good".
He continued: "I would love to hear his stuff. I know he writes it. There has been a lot of talk on what he’s been up to and I know he’s been writing music with Frank Ocean. I think that’ll come out at some point.” In an interview with CBS News, the sportsman played clips of his R&B-inflected tracks ‘J’Adore’ and ‘Lookin’ at You’. Hamilton stated that his interest in music first started as a pastime, and is very serious about developing a music career later in life, affirming that: “If I’m not training, getting ready for the race, I’m here.”
His strong work ethic has been praised by Tinie Tempah, who has urged the racer to make his music public. Tempah told Total Access that “It’s really, really good. It’s interesting. I’m curious to see how people will react to it.” Hamilton has said he is influenced by artists including Michael Jackson, Prince, Kodaline and Jay Z and his ex-girlfriend Nicole Scherzinger. This familiarly with music is proving useful as Hamilton creates bars with famous musicians in his studio.
