Nicki Minaj is staying true to her words by helping her fans pay off their student debts. Last weekend, Minaj showed her support for education by responding to her fans’s tweets about their loan debts. She wrote, “show me straight A’s that I can verify w/ur school and I’ll pay it. Who wants to join THAT contest?!?! Dead serious. Shld I set it up?”.
A couple of days later, a fan by the Twitter handle @OnikaPose verified that Minaj has followed through with the payments. “Yes, she followed through. She asked for my college number to call up there to make the payment. Mostly all I did is tweeted her. I didn’t think she would answer, then she responded.”
Following up on the task, Minaj took to Instagram to announce that she will be launching a charity soon to financially support those pursuing higher education degrees. Minaj posted a photo of a list of patrons she’s already helped out, with the caption “I’ll do another impromptu payment spree in a month or 2 but pls know that I’m launching my official charity for Student Loans/Tuition Payments VERY SOON! You’ll be able to officially sign up! I’ll keep you posted!”
Thus far, Nicki has donated more than $18,000 to various students for loans, courses, and books.
The news comes during a busy week for Nicki, who was recently confirmed as a guest on Calvin Harris’ Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1. After enjoying a night out with Nas, she guest starred on Jason Derulo’s “Swalla (After Dark Remix)” and appeared in DNCE’s “Kissing Strangers” video. On top of all of these collaborations, she is also working on a follow-up to her 2014 album The Pinkprint.
