Toronto born ‘PartyNextDoor’ has been having a quietly prolific 2017. The singer and producer has been releasing loose tracks habitually over the last few months. Starting with the highly underrated Colours 2 EP, Party has released a total of eight tracks, boosted considerably by his Seven Days EP.

PND also co-wrote two of DJ Khaled's smash hits, the first one being ‘Shining’ with Jay-Z and Beyoncé and the second being‘Wild Thoughts’ featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller. As well as these feats he has made guest appearances on both Major Lazer's ‘Run Up’ with Nicki Minaj and Zayn's ‘Still Got Time’ which has flexed his versatility.

However, ‘Seven Days’ is far from the perfect album. Although true to its title, the album took just seven days to create failing to give new life to PND. Songs are reminiscent of previous tracks and the artist refuses to venture into the experimental. The album is receiving floods of criticism from fans who have challenged if PND has “lost his game”. Despite this lack of faith from fans, it is undisputable that PND puts a lot of effort and soul into his projects.

In contrast to Colours, ‘Seven Days’ sports some big collaborations with Fall tour mate Halsey and MMG boss Rick Ross. ‘Better Man,’ which features Rozay, is arguably one of the collection's strongest tracks, playing into the intimate quality of PND's best songs, while also adding some crisp, driving drum programming that makes it stand out on the project. It finds the singer reasoning with a lover, and striving for more. "It seems like breakin' your heart is the easiest part / And lovin' you right, only gets harder," he sings. "Just give me some time so I can be a better lover." Meanwhile, Ross proves himself as a rapper who can complement an R&B song without resorting to auto-pilot.
