One beautiful woman can often be the only cause of conflict between two men.
This is certainly true in the case of Kanye West and Ray J who have been bitter rivals since Kim Kardashian married Kanye West and became Kim Kardashian West. The jealousy was highlighted by the release of Ray J’s cheeky Track ‘I Hit It First’ in 2013. The response to this track was varied, with many fans seeing the release of the song as Ray J’s crude attempt to remain relevant; however, many accepted the RnB singer’s claim that he did in fact make Kim K famous after their sex tape leaked online – the reality star has since seen so much success come her way after years of trying to break into the mainstream.
Revenge is a dish best served cold and Kanye clapped back a few years later by depicting Ray J in his infamous ‘Famous’ video and sending some shots Ray J’s way on his critically acclaimed album ‘The Life Of Pablo. Initially, Ray J responded angrily to being depicted in the video stating that it actually caused some problems in his marriage with new wife Princess Love. Another RnB star who was depicted by wax in the strange video was Chris Brown. Brown and Ray J are good friends so it’s no surprise that they’ve teamed up on a new track clapping back at the rapper.
The timing of the diss song, ironically called ‘Famous’ is interesting to say the least. The latter half of 2016 has been pretty rough for both Kim and Kanye. Following her kidnapping and robbery in Paris, Kim Kardashian has postponed her TV show ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ and Kanye West is certainly up for the prize of most unpopular artist in the music industry after he went on a bitter tirade dissing the likes of Jay Z, Beyonce, DJ Khaled and Drake whilst endorsing Donald Trump on his St Pablo world tour. He has since checked into hospital for exhaustion and cancelled the remaining leg of his tour disappointing fans and fuelling critics with more ammunition. In the grand scheme of things, Ray J’s diss track will mean nothing to the pair; however, it has got social media talking at a time when Kanye just needs to stay out of the headlines.
In the song Ray J claims: ‘She f*ck me for fame, look in her eyes/She was the first one to sign on the line/She was the real one to plan it all out/Look at the family, they walk around proud/All because she had my dick in her mouth/Wanna have me in bed while you f*cking your spouse/Shows that you still a rat and your man Mickey Mouse.’ Some pretty harsh words, too far or is this what we should expect in modern Hip Hop?
