Top Dawg Entertainment singer SZA, has announced a North America ‘Ctrl’ tour following her highly anticipated and well received album ‘Ctrl’.
The album saw both critical and commercial success as it debuted at No. 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop charts, soon after its release in June. A beautiful blend of R&B which showcased her incredible song writing ability and silky vocals, SZA's album may have been delayed but it was very well received by her fans once they heard it.
It has also received various positive reviews, including a 8.4 rating by Pitchfork. Nearly a month after it’s release, SZA cryptically announced the tour in a couple of short animations and an image revealing the dates on her Instagram.
The images are decorated with hand-drawn artwork which matches the playful persona she possesses. Similar to the artwork on some of her recent singles such as ‘Drew Barrymore’ and ‘Love Galore’. The tour will begin in August 2017, and run for four months, finishing in mid-December. During the tour SZA will be accompanied by St Louis born rapper Smino, who, after touring with fellow rapper Mick Jenkins last year, has recently released his unique debut album ‘Blkswn.’
She will also be joined by 17-year-old R&B star Ravyn Lenae, who is beginning to taste more success with the release of her second EP 'Midnight Moonlight' earlier this year. Both artists share SZA’s unique flare - which should make for a very Interesting performance.
SZA, who has previously written for the like of Beyonce and Rihanna, put on an incredible performance at the 2017 BET awards. It looks like she is getting the recognition that her talent deserves. Listen to her critically acclaimed album ‘Ctrl’ below:
