Despite being criminally underrated, Hood Hippies are producing some excellent music that continues to dabble in various genres and styles, most notably their new track 'Loverman' ft Nic Da Kid.
UK music is in an amazing place at the moment; with Grime, Afro-beats and UK rap all thriving in their own lanes. Every so often an artist or group will come along that can transcend these genres, excelling in more than one. Hood Hippies are one of those groups.
Their new tune, Loverman, features a hook reminiscent of Miguel but verses cut from a similar cloth to AJ Tracey or 67. This mix of trap-flavoured instrumentation and excellent melody work is comparable to the likes of the ASAP Mob, even the video has very ‘cozy’ vibes. Loverman is an undeniably, hypnotic, attention-grabbing song. Watch the video below:
However, whilst the Hackney residents clearly have an ear for the more spacey, melodic side to music; they have also sharpened their tools in the realm of 140bpm, grime territory. Their song ‘More Time’ is an example of this. Listen to the Hood Hippies dance over the hardest of beats provided by Forty7, like MJ back in 82.
With Hood Hippies putting out content of this quality, we predict they will blow up in the not so distant future.
