Colors is a Berlin-based platform that showcases some of the most talented emerging artists and their latest release is no different.
The latest release features Topaz Jones, a very talented artist who uses his love for Funk and Hip Hop music to create his own unique sound. In this video Topaz performs his hit ‘Tropicana’ a vibrant and Funk-infused track that encapsulates his distinctive sound. It is also one of the many great songs off of his most recent album ‘Arcade’. The video itself really gives us an insight on how much of born-performer Topaz is, the orange background is creatively used to compliment Topaz’s energetic performance.
Topaz Jones being a New Jersey native, started writing at the age of seven with later creating music in his teens. Having Hip Hop inspirations like Nas, his Funk influences came from his father, who has worked with legendary bands like Slave. It is undeniable that these influences are a great asset to his music. His album 'Arcade' is such a great listen with a range of sounds and content; Topaz is definitely creating his own space. Topaz’s ability to blend genres should not go unnoticed, songs like ‘Powerball’ on ‘Arcade’ do a great job of creating a nostalgic tone in terms of production while still remaining contemporary with Topaz’s polished flow.
In terms of his live performances Topaz has such an infectious energy, with his first European performance being a set at Wireless Festival in London. His performance was filled with dance moves and crowd interaction. Even going as far to perform an unreleased song which we hope we will be hearing very soon.
If you are looking for an artist who brings a fresh sound to the Hip-hop industry with hint of nostalgia, Topaz Jones is definitely your guy!
