Drake and Eminem ended speculation that the two had been embroiled in a bitter feud yesterday after Drake brought the Detroit MC out for a duo performance.
Radio DJ Ebro alleged on Hot 97 that in a private conversation with Drake, he said that he had diss tracks ready for Eminem. Rumours then surfaced that Slim Shady was ready to take on the Six God due to his ongoing beef with Joe Budden, an artist signed to Slim Shady records.
Rumours of the beef were completely squashed when Drake brought out Eminem to perform their hit song 'Forever'. The pair traded compliments rather than insults onstage. Drake addressed the ecstatic crowd: ‘Detroit, make some noise for the greatest rapper to ever get on the microphone.’ Hooded, energetic and full of attitude, Eminem commanded his city to ‘make Drake feel at home.’ It was simply a great moment for Hip Hop.
Drake’s tactical prowess and awareness of the Hip Hop game was yet again demonstrated on tour with his selection of supporting acts. In New York, he brought out Dipset Duo Cam’ron and Juelz Santana as well as Fat Joe and Remy Ma - to whom the New York crowd responded positively. The Detroit crowd was equally enamoured by Drake's latest act of homage to a man who has done so much to put the city of Detroit on the map. In similar fashion to Eminem, Drake has done everything to represent his hometown, Toronto, to the fullest.
Many argue that not many positives have come from Detroit in the last few years due to its crippling economic problems. The city filed for the largest municipal bankruptcy in US history in July 2013 – but Eminem - one of the most recognisable names from Detroit, is definitely someone the city can feel proud of.
