’I Decided.’ is a concept album.

In a recent interview Big Sean stated that his album is a concept about rebirth, and songs like “Light”, “Jump Out the Window”, and “Voices in My Head/Stick to the plan” more clearly play to this idea. ‘Dark Sky Paradise’, which was released in 2015, frequently played with darker tones, but wasn’t completely a concept album, so it’s nice to see Big Sean delivering something new.

This album has some major features.

This album comes loaded with features from the likes of Jeremih, Jhene Aiko, and Migos, and gives writing credits to Metro Boomin on “Sacrifices” and Kanye West on “Bounce Back”. Eminem also makes an appearance in what might go down as one of the more memorable verses of the year, but Big Sean brings his own evolved flows alongside Shady, proving his capabilities to any doubters.

Both figures on the cover are Big Sean.

Big Sean explained on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ that both men that are side by side on the cover art are in fact him, and it displays a “present day” version of him to the left, and a past version of him to the right. This could play to the concept of the album in the sense that, as he explains, the decisions you make in life can lead to different outcomes, or a rebirth of sorts.

Big Sean said this album is “definitive”. Here it is to be enjoyed for what it is, a solid project!
